How do I join the club?
-
First you need to obtain a MAAC insurance number. MAAC stands for Model Aeronautics Association of Canada which is the official governing body for Model Aviation in Canada. All members are required to have a MAAC number. This way you are also insured for possible damages that you may cause while flying an RC model, providing that you have followed the MAAC and Club safety rules. Go to MAAC website and pay online for 1-3 year membership. You will be sent a MAAC membership card that you are required to have every time you fly at the Burnaby Lakes field.

Download Membership Form from this link and fill it out (right click over the link and save the file). This form is in PDF format so you can print and fill it out.
Please send your application along with proof of MAAC membership and a cheque for $65 to the address on the top of the Contact Us web page. You can also pay by Interac e-Transfer if you prefer. Click Here for information on setting up e-Transfer.
Please Note: Recently, Transport Canada made changes to the Canadian Aviation Regulations to include the operation of all remotely controlled model aircraft. Under the new regulations all operators of remotely piloted aircraft systems must have an RPAS Pilot's Certificate and must be at least 14 years old. In light of these regulations, Burnaby Lake Flyers Association have made the decision to not accept membership applications for persons under the age of 14 for the near future. We are hopeful that this is an interim measure and that in the foreseeable future we will be able to invite younger pilots to once again join our club and enjoy our great hobby..
